AAP Councillor Shot Dead In Punjab’s Maletkotla

Guwahati: Two unidentified miscreants shot and killed an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) municipal councillor at a gym in Maletkotla district of Punjab on Sunday.

Police claim that there is some personal animosity involved.

The deceased AAP Councillor have been identified as Akbar Bholi was shot and killed at his gym.

“At this point, we believe that there is some personal animosity involved, but more information is needed. The inquiry is ongoing, and we will update the media if and when there is any development in the case, according to Malerkotla Senior Superintendent of Police Avneet Kaur.

Meanwhile, a lawsuit has been filed under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC as well as Sections of the Arms Act.

The deceased’s kin told ANI that he was an extremely compassionate man who frequently assisted those in need. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a married daughter.

He further demanded the arrest of the people involved as soon as possible.

Bholi represented Ward No. 18 as an AAP councillor. He shifted to the Aam Aadmi Party after winning his first municipal council race on a Congress ticket prior to the Punjab Assembly elections.

Notably, two motorcycle attackers also assassinated Bholi’s older brother Mohammad Anwar in January 2020.
