Cong Protests Outside National Herald Office Against ED Raid
Guwahati: Congress members organised protests outside the National Herald newspaper’s head office in New Delhi against the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) raids at the office on Tuesday.
The ED conducted a raid at the National Herald newspaper’s headquarters and 11 other sites as part of an ongoing money laundering probe a week after questioning Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Numerous Congress members, including those from the Delhi chapter of the party, gathered in front of the Herald House structure to oppose the raid.
Members of the Delhi Mahila Congress, including its president Amrita Dhawan, were also among the demonstrators.
Officials claim that the raids were conducted against the organisations that were involved in the transactions mentioned in the National Herald in order to acquire more information about the money trail.
The raids were carried out days and a week after the ED questioned Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald newspaper case. While Sonia Gandhi was questioned for more than 11 hours over three sessions last month Rahul Gandhi was questioned for more than 50 hours over five days in June.
