Things Between Assam CM and Akhil Gogoi heat up again as Gogoi says, “He Is a King, Dumps Decisions on People”

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was compared to a monarch by Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on Wednesday who also claimed that the state’s residents suffer as a result of his policies

Gogoi addressed it to media today after starting his hunger strike close to the Ambedkar statue at Last Gate in Guwahati’s Dispur area.

He sat on a hunger strike to express his displeasure with Assam’s lack of school privatisation.

Gogoi believes that the state administration should reconsider its choices. The amalgamation of government-funded schools in Assam is never a good decision for the education system, he said.

The chief of Raijor Dal, Gogoi stated that his party will continue to oppose such state cabinet policies.

He added that protests would be held throughout the state in opposition to the government’s decision. Protests will be organised in Jorhat and Sivasagar tomorrow, informed Gogoi.

Gogoi argued that such decisions should be the subject of statewide debate before being put into effect.

He urged that a special meeting be held with participation from all parties in an effort to determine a shared course of action.

The Sivasagar MLA also urged that the government immediately reverse its judgement in this matter and called for the development of a specific rights act to combat similar government actions.

Speaking about Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gogoi said, “He is a king. Whatever comes to his mind at night, he dumps it on the people of the state.”
