India Logs Over 17K Cases of COVID-19, 47 Fatalities

Guwahati: India has reported 17,135 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total to 4,40,67,144, while the number of active cases has decreased to 1,37,057, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

Reportedly, a total number of 47 fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours by taking the rising of death toll to 5,26,477.

According to the government, the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.49%, and the active cases rose to 0.31 percent of all infection.

The number of active COVID-19 cases has dropped by 2,735 as per the reports in the last 24hours.

According to the health ministry, the weekly positive rate was 4.67 percent, while the daily positivity rate was 3.69 percent.

The overall recovery rate from the illness increased to 4,34,03,610, while the case fatality rate was noted at 1.20 percent.

As per reports, 204.84 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been distributed throughout the nation as part of the COVID-19 vaccination push.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh-mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one crore-mark on December 19.

India hit the depressing 2 crore milestone on May 4, 3 crore on June 23, and 4 crore on January 25 of current year.

The 47 new fatalities include five from Maharashtra and Rajasthan, four from West Bengal, three each from Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Uttarakhand, two each from Himachal Pradesh, Manipur and Punjab, one each from Chandigarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Pondicherry and Uttar Pradesh.

Moreover, Kerala has also reconciled the deaths of 12 people.
