Senior Advocate Nekibur Zaman Get Threats Messages After Opposing Jihadi Activities In Madrassas
Guwahati: Senior advocate Nekibur Zaman claimed on Friday that he had received threatening texts as a result of his opposition to recent jihadist activity in Madrassa.
Zaman claimed that the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) sent him the ominous texts.
He then reported the incident to the Bhangagarh police station.
Assam Police have been concentrating on dismantling Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), which has ties to Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), for the past five months.
Assam Police have so far deactivated five modules.
The Morigaon module put forward new evidences of jihadi activities taking place inside Madrassas that is run by a suspect namely Mufti Mustafa.
Authorities destroyed the madrassa after the disclosure.
In a press conference on Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that madarassas are in some way connected to extremist activity.
