Special Session of Assam Legislative Assembly on August 17

Guwahati: The Assam Legislative Assembly will convene for a special session on August 17. The session will begin at 3 pm instead of beginning at 9 am as originally planned.

Furthermore, the extraordinary session was called by Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi.

According to reports, the special session was called in relation to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav for the 75th Independence Day.

MPs from the opposition will also be in attendance.

The Assam Legislative Assembly’s autumn session will begin on September 12 in the meanwhile. The state legislative assembly’s session will begin at 9.30 am.

Rupjyoti Kurmi, the Assam state legislator from the Mariani district, had already stated that the flood situation would be discussed in the state legislative assembly.

Kurmi had said that the disastrous floods in Assam would be discussed during the approaching assembly session who blamed the flooding on hydropower projects.
