Assam: 42-year-old woman trampled to death by elephant in Tamulpur
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a 42-year-old woman has been trampled to death by an elephant in Tamulpur district of Assam.
The deceased woman has been identified as Alka Biswas.
The incident took place at Angarkata village of Shantipur of the district last night.
According to reports, a herd of elephants entered into the village last night in search of food.
Reportedly, the elephants scared the residents while also raiding the farms and severely damaging the agricultural output.
Meanwhile, the police arrived at the spot and has taken the body for post-mortem.
It needs to be mentioned that Assam’s human-elephant conflict is intensifying day by day, resulting in casualties on both sides. Property damage and crop damage are escalating in conflict zones across Assam and Northeast India with passing time.
