Registrar of Bhattadev University Sent To 3 Days V&AC Custody

Guwahati: Guru Prasad Khatniar, the registrar of Bhattadev University, was remanded to the custody of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (V&AC) cell by a special court in Guwahati on Monday.

The judge remanded the corrupt university administrator to three days in custody regarding a case of accepting bribe.

The registrar of Bhattadev University in Pathsala in Assam, Khatniar was caught red-handed accepting a bribe on Saturday.

Reports state that the dishonest official accepted a bribe of Rs 50,000. The CJM court had remanded him to judicial detention after the arrest for one day.

He was then brought to court, where the judge gave the state’s V&AC cell custody of him.

Khatniar will once more be brought before the special court on August 11.

On the other hand, a Goalpara police official who had been detained on comparable charges of receiving bribes had received a four-day jail sentence.

The crooked cop was revealed to be Goalpara’s Matia’s SI Chabin Pal. On August 12, he will once more be brought before the court for a hearing.
