UP Police Arrests Shrikant Tyagi, Who Went Incommunicado After Assaulting Woman

Guwahati: BJP leader Shrikant Tyagi, who was placed incommunicado following an assault on a woman, was detained by Noida police together with three other people from the Meerut area of Uttar Pradesh.

Reportedly, a day after bulldozers demolished the unauthorised building outside Tyagi’s home in Noida’s Sector-93B housing complex, he was arrested.

As per reports, Tyagi was continually attempting to contact his wife and attorney, and this provided the police with a hint as to his whereabouts. He arrived in Saharanpur on Monday evening. He landed in Meerut early on Tuesday and was later taken into custody. After meeting his loved ones, he had made the decision to turn himself in before the court on Wednesday.

According to his social media handle, Tyagi is a member of the national executive of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha.

Moreover, Tyagi’s wife was brought into custody earlier today and questioned.

According to reports, Tyagi’s family members were also questioned and his wife was questioned for longer than 24 hours on Friday as well.

Reportedly, Police detained six of his fans yesterday after they entered the Grand Omaxe society late on Sunday night without authorization and inquired about the address of the woman that Tyagi had assaulted.

Moreover, following an altercation on the grounds of Grand Omaxe, during which time Tyagi vanished, he was arrested for reportedly abusing and assaulting a woman.

However, the incident happened after the woman protested Tyagi’s planting of some trees, alleging a violation of the rules despite his claims that he had every right to do so.
