Guwahati: A 60-year-old man was detained on suspicion of raping a young girl in the Noonmati area of Guwahati on Monday.
As per reports, the 6-year-old victim child was home alone when the event happened in the afternoon since her parents had left for work.
The accused identified as Dwijen Ramsiyari allegedly entered the home and performed the horrible crime by seizing the opportunity.
Additionally, it is known that her 10-year-old brother saw the crime but ran away out of fear.
Reportedly, afterwards when the victim’s parents got home, the girl told them all that had happened, and they filed a police report against Ramsiyari.
However, the complaint led to the accused’s arrest by police, who then filed a complaint against him under the 2012 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
