Guwahati: The Dima Hasao District Congress Committee held a rally on Tuesday in Haflong town in conjunction with “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
The rally left the Sambhudhan Phonglo statue and Rajiv Bhawan and proceeded to the Council rotary.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLA of Haflong and CEM of N.C.Hills Autonomous Council Mr. Samarjeet Haflongbar said that the rally was held to honour all the freedom fighters who fought against the British raj to free India and to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence.
He added that the Congress party also wants to alert the public to the dangers posed by the BJP government’s privatisation programme which, if it is not changed, will put the Indian people back in servitude.
