Congress All Set To Hold Nationwide Protest On Price Hike, Unemployment From Aug 19

Guwahati: The Congress party will stage a series of protest gatherings in a number of locations across the nation, including agricultural, mandi, and retail markets from August 17 to August 23.

The party has stepped up its attack on the government’s centre on topics like the GST, price increases, and national unemployment. It also made the decision to set up Chaupals all throughout the nation.

The protest march will come to an end in Ramleela Maidan in Delhi on August 28.

According to a statement by Congress General Secretary and Communication Incharge Jairam Ramesh, the party’s statewide protest against the present administration’s what it called “anti-people” policies on August 5 had a significant impact on the populace.

Ramesh claimed that the BJP government’s nervousness over its inability to rein in spiralling inflation and unemployment is only highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attempt to characterise legitimate protest as “black magic.”

It is noteworthy that in June, India’s retail inflation rate exceeded the Reserve Bank of India’s upper tolerance band of 6% for the sixth month in a row. In June, the retail inflation rate was 7.01 percent.

In addition, inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) has now reached double digits for 15 consecutive months.

The next protests are intended by the Congress party to advance this conflict.

“India’s populace is suffering as a result of the Modi administration’s poor economic management. Higher levies on basic items like curd, buttermilk, and packaged food grains are aggravating inflation, while the transfer of public assets to crony capitalists and the implementation of the foolish Agnipath scheme are worsening the employment situation,” Ramesh further added.

“In order to put more pressure on the BJP government to reverse course, the Indian National Congress will keep raising public awareness of these anti-people policies,” he said.
