CPI (M) Stages Protest Against Price Hike of Essential Commodities in Guwahati

Guwahati: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) organised a significant demonstration against the increase in the cost of necessities in Guwahati on Thursday.

The protest was conducted in front of the Circle Officer’s office in the Dispur district of the city.

The protesters urged that the cost of necessities be lowered, that Guwahati residents be given access to clean water, and that the price increases for gasoline, diesel, and LPG gas cylinders be stopped.

They also sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma in this regard through the Circle Officer.

Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) staged separate rallies in the city earlier this month against the implementation of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) on various vital items, which resulted in price increases.
