‘Moran Janagosthir Buranji’ Book Inaugurated by Assam CM Sarma
Guwahati: The history of the Moran people, an ethnic minority in the state, was chronicled in the book “Moran Janagosthir Buranji,” which was inaugurated on Saturday by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The book release event was organised at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati’s Dispur.
Speaking at the event, CM Sarma said, “On the auspicious day amid celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, I bring to the public this book titled “Moran Janagosthir Buranji.”
He said, “The book provides every information that is currently accessible about the Moran people. They are closely related to the Sino-Tibetan ethnic group known as the Kirati. They contributed to the development of Assam and the Assamese people.”
“Few individuals are aware of their history because of societal carelessness,” he added.
The Assam chief minister also announced that beginning in eighth grade, history and geography will be made a requirement in schools.
CM Sarma said, ‘these newly discovered facts would be put in history textbooks. There are very few discussions on the state’s history.”
The CM further declared that his administration will endeavour to foster a historical discourse and environment in Assam.
