‘Har Ghar Tiranga’: PM Modi’s mother distributes Tricolour to children in Gujarat

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben Modi, distributed the national flag to children in her neighbourhood on Saturday as the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign got underway.

She also raised the Tricolour at her home to support the campaign, which PM Modi announced to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence and celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’

Photos were shared on Twitter, in which Heeraben can be seen surrounded with children, holding a flag.

The central government has urged citizens to hoist or display the Tricolor in their houses from August 13 to August 15 in honour of the 75th anniversary of independence as part of the campaign, which will last through August 15.

The National Flag may be hoisted or flown at all times by a citizen, a private organisation, or a school. The Indian Flag Code has also been modified by the government to permit the open display of the Tricolor on private homes and structures as well as without any time limitations.

The goal of the initiative is to encourage Indians everywhere to fly the flag at home. The program’s goal is to make the bond with the national flag more personal instead of just keeping it formal or institutional.
