Prez Droupadi Murmu To Address Nation Today On I-Day Eve

The new President of India, Droupadi Murmu will address the nation on Sunday, the eve of the country’s 75th Independence Day. The speech will be broadcast starting at 7 pm on the whole All India Radio (AIR) network and broadcasted on all Doordarshan channels in Hindi before switching to English.

The regional Doordarshan channels will then air a broadcast in the local languages after this.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the nation from the Red Fort on August 15. The “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign was started by the Center as part of the year-long “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations to honour 75 years of independence.

The campaign had started on Saturday and will go on till August 15. It had been launched with the aim to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it on the occasion.

The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav had officially begun on March 12, 2021, starting a 75-week countdown to 75th year of independence.

PM Modi had invited people to take and upload a photo of the Tiranga to the Har Ghar Tiranga website to commemorate the impending Independence Day celebrations.

It should be mentioned that Indian citizens were not allowed to hoist the national flag except on selected occasions earlier. But with the Supreme Court’s historic ruling in industrialist Naveen Jindal’s favour, whose ten-year struggle culminated in the declaration that the right to fly the national flag freely and with respect and dignity is a fundamental right of an Indian citizen within the meaning of Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India, it is now clear that this right is one of the most important ones.
