PM Modi Calls India is “mother of democracy” in I-Day speech

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the ninth time from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day, saying that India is the “mother of democracy” and that everyone is working to empower every Indian in every corner of the country.

Prime Minister Modi stated, “India is the birthplace of democracy. Throughout its 75-year journey, India has demonstrated its valuable ability while facing numerous challenges.”

The Prime Minister recalled the philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi, the nation’s father.

He said, “An aspirational society is important for any nation. Today, we are proud that these aspirations are present in every household in India. Every citizen is enthusiastic and works with progress for the progress of New India. This Amrit Kaal is providing us with a golden opportunity to fulfil the dreams and goals of this aspirational society.”

The Prime Minister stated that, despite the challenges faced since independence, nothing could dampen the zeal of Indian citizens.

He further said that Indians must work towards becoming a developed country and eradicating all vestiges of colonialism. He also stated that Indians must maintain their roots while ensuring unity in diversity.

PM Modi also recognised the contributions of Indian women freedom fighters such as Rani Laxmibai, Jhalkari Bai, Chennamma, and Begun Hazrat Maha.

“There was not a single year during our freedom struggle when our freedom fighters did not face brutality and cruelty. Today, as we pay our respects, we must remember their vision and dream for India “PM Modi stated.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised citizens of the country for banding together in the fight against Covid-19, claiming that India had administered a record 200 crore vaccine doses in a timely manner, a feat that no other country could have accomplished. He said, “The fight against COVID-19 was an example of this common consciousness where citizens came together. From supporting doctors to propelling research to taking vaccines to the remotest parts, we stood together. The country’s citizens stood with ‘corona warriors’ by the gestures of banging thalis and lighting diyas.”

Lauding citizens for leading the way in taking vaccines, he added, “When there was confusion prevailing in the world over the efficacy of vaccines, my country’s people came forward and we accomplished the feat of administering 200 crore vaccine doses. That surprised the world.”

The prime minister also stressed on the fact that the country broke previous records in the administration of vaccine doses.

Notably, Modi once again won hearts with his outfit that has the ‘Make in India’ philosophy attached to it. His white pagdi truly evoked a sense of pride and patriotism among the citizens.
