Assam: Three hardcore criminals escape from court premises in Lakhimpur

Guwahati: A rape and murder suspect who had been brought to the Dhakuakhana Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate’s Court for a case hearing on Tuesday pushed the policemen and then escaped from their custody.

The policemen made unsuccessful attempts to apprehend him.

The accused, named as Raju Baruah alias Garja, reportedly dashed into the courthouse restroom before jumping out the window to flee.

Two more accused namely Jatin Tamuli and Sunti Das also fled from the courtroom along with hardcore criminal Garja.

It’s interesting that accused Garja has managed to escape from police custody twice.

Notably, during a confrontation with the police in September of last year, the criminal Garja was already wounded in the leg. The Lakhimpur Medical College Hospital received him right away.

Then, in January of this year, Defendant Gerja left the COVID-19 ward after learning he had it.

He was once more apprehended after the police started a manhunt.

Defendant Garja had ties to rape, homicide, and extortion crimes.
