Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs in the state Assam Police in a big development seized a huge quantity of heroin and one drug smuggler has been arrested from Bokakhat in Golaghat district of Assam.
Based on specific inputs, the police launched search operations in vehicles heading from Golaghat towards Guwahati early on Thursday morning
According to reports, the drug smuggler was apprehended from a bus while checking in front of the Bokakhat Police Station.
The arrestee has been identified as Gautam Barhoi who is a resident of Numaligarh in Golaghat.
A soap box filled with heroin, one syringe, two empty containers, along with two iphones has been seized from his possession.
The 13 grams of heroin, which is estimated to be worth Rs 20,000, have reportedly been seized from Gautam’s possession, police informed.
The police also said that a drug racket is slowing emerging in the Numaligarh area. The police are continuing their frisking operations to catch the drug smugglers.
Meanwhile, the cops are currently interrogating Gautam.
