Assam: Customers Stage Protest Against Bank Manager in Sonari

Guwahati: Bank customers protested against the branch manager in Assam’s Sonari, accusing him of mistreating them in a tense situation.

The incident took place at Assam Gramin Vikash Bank in Longpatia area of Sonari on Thursday.

The bank manager has been identified as Bishnu Hazarika.

Locals and clients protested outside the bank, calling for Hazarika’s dismissal.

“He has treated many customers in a poor manner, and many people are coming up with their complaints against the bank manager,” one of the protesters claimed.

One woman claimed that their KYC had not been updated for a month and that they had been unable to update their passbook since 2020. The bank consistently refutes them by claiming that the machine is broken. Furthermore, they don’t get any messages about their bank transactions.

The bank manager refuted these claims and asserted, “I have never treated anyone unfairly, and I have no idea why they are organising the demonstration and calling for my suspension. They have false accusations against me. I have always made an effort to assist clients with their difficulties.
