Bihar: JD(U) MLA Threatens To Resign After Colleague Given Minister Post
Guwahati: Bima Bharti, a Janata Dal (United) MLA, threatened to quit the party on Thursday amid the deteriorating political climate in Bihar because her colleague was awarded her position in the government while she was not.
The MLA said that Leshi Singh, a fellow MLA from her party, had been appointed as a minister for the third time. On August 16, she was appointed to the position of State Minister of Food and Consumer Protection.
Leshi is allegedly connected to numerous occurrences in her district that have harmed the party’s reputation, claims MLA Bharti.
She alleged, I’m furious because only JDU MLA Leshi Singh has always been selected for the Cabinet. What qualities does the Chief Minister notice about her? She frequently gets involved in local incidents, which hurts the party’s reputation. Why do we not get noticed? Is it because we belong to a lower caste?
She added that if her allegations against Leshi are confirmed and she is not fired from her position, she will resign from the party.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reacted to Bharti’s statement saying, “I cannot make everyone a minister every time,” Mr Kumar said, underlining that Bima Bharti had also been minister twice.”
“This sort of behaviour is unacceptable. The party will have a calm conversation with Ms. Bharti. Okay if she comprehends. Or otherwise, if she has considered travelling somewhere, she might think about that,” he added.
