Guwahati: In a horrifying incident, a jilted lover allegedly attacked his girlfriend with a knife before killing himself on Thursday in Jorhat district of Assam.
The incident took place at Kakjan area in Teok town of the district.
The young woman who was seriously injured has been referred to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) for better treatment.
According to reports, she is receiving treatment at the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
The injured woman was identified as Umme Sulema from Bongaigaon, while the boy Mofizul Islam was from Tezpur.
Meanwhile, police stated that the body of Mofizul was reportedly recovered at his home hanging from a ceiling fan.
Further investigations into the matter are underway.
