Guwahati: Assam police rescued 51 cattle heads at Jorabat under Meghalaya’s Rib hoi district and Kamrup Metro on Friday night.
According to reports, ‘AS 11 AC 4087’ was the registration number of the cattle-laden vehicle that was intercepted at Jorabat while travelling to Byrnihat.
Meantime, the truck driver is identified as Rafiqul Islam and was arrested in connection to it.
It may be mentioned that Assam police has been successfully thwarting several such cattle smuggling bids across the state.
However, several attempts to smuggle animals across the state have been successfully thwarted by Assam police.
Recently, a passenger van carrying cattle was recently impounded in Sonapur, Assam and about 20 cattle heads were extricated from the car.
Two people were detained in connection with it: the driver and another passenger.
