Assam Govt Hands Ex-Gratia To Victims Of Manipur Landslide
Guwahati: The families of those who perished or were injured in the major landslides that took place in Manipur in June this year has received ex-gratia cheques from the Assam government on Sunday.
As per reports, 16 families of labourers from the Morigaon district of Assam, who perished in landslides in Manipur’s Tupul district on June 30, each received Rs 2 lakhs in compensation.
Moreover, the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund gave each of the five workers who were injured in the terrible occurrence Rs 25,000.
Assam cabinet minister for water resources, Pijush Hazarika and forest rehabilitation minister Chandra Mohan Patowary handed over the ex-gratia cheques to the kin of the victims at a formal event at Lahorighat.
Additionally, the deputy commissioner of Morigaon, Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia and MLA Ramakant Deori were also present at the event.
Minister Patowary said in his remarks that the Assam government will take appropriate action for the rehabilitation of the victims of the state’s Morigaon district in the landslide in Manipur.
