Assam-Born ‘Nightingale of Pakistan’ Nayyara Noor Passes Away in Karachi
Guwahati: Nayyara Noor the Nightingale of Pakistan died at the age of 71 in Pakistan’s Karachi, on Sunday.
Noor was born in Assam and she was also popularly known as ‘Bulbul-e-Pakistan’ in the country.
Nayyara was raised in Assam after being born in Guwahati in the year 1950. Later, she and her family moved to Pakistan’s capital.
Her father hosted Muhammad Ali Jinnah on his visit to Assam prior to Partition and was an active member of the All-India Muslim League.
Noor discovered her singing potential while attending the National College of Arts in Lahore for her further education.
In the late 1960s, she made her television debut on national television and she was well known by her Ghazals.
Reportedly, she was receiving treatment at the hospital in Karachi.
