Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s Judicial Custody Extended Till Sept 5 in money laundering case

Guwahati: Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena lawmaker, has had his judicial detention extended to September 5 in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case.

According to reports, Raut’s judicial custody was only valid from the court’s initial hearing until August 22. However, on August 22, Monday, a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court prolonged his custody until September 5.

In the same matter, Raut had already been sent to the Enforcement Directorate’s custody until August 4. After his arrest, ED brought him before a special sessions court that same day.

The Shiv Sena leader was taken into custody on August 1 after ED agents stormed his home on July 31. He had been held and questioned for several hours.

Sanjay Raut was called by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 28 in connection with the investigation into Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chawl land scam and the prevention of money laundering.
