Assam: 7 Arrested In 3 Separate Drug Busts As War On Drugs Intensifies
Guwahati: Assam police seized huge quantity of narcotic substances and arrested several people in three separate busts on Friday.
Following a tip, Karimganj police arrested four people in connection with the bust and confiscated huge amounts of cannabis.
According to reports, a trap was set along the Assam-Tripura state boundary at Kathaltali near Chandkhira in the Karimganj district, according to the police.
According to the police, the operation resulted in the seizure of up to 73 kilogrammes of marijuana, and four people were detained on suspicion of smuggling. They further stated that the medicines they had confiscated were valued close to Rs 7 lakhs.
The four people who have been taken into custody have been identified as Mohammad Bejal, Mohammad Majrul, Pawan Kumar Yadav, and Sanoj Kumar.
According to reports, Police began an anti-narcotics operation in a separate bust in Lumding in the Hojai district of Assam, and they caught a drug user in the act.
The 6.10 grammes of brown sugar that were allegedly taken from him by the police. Biswajit Das, as Manki, was recognised as the drug user.
Additionally, police in Nagaon nabbed two drug smugglers from Batadrava in yet another significant operation.
Operations were started by the Nagaon police in Batadrava’s Lalung Gaon and Bhetiani Gaon. They detained two people during their operation and recovered drugs from their possession.
Reportedly, approximately 3 grammes of narcotics and 468 grammes of marijuana were found in their possession.
The arrested smugglers were identified as Atabur Rahman and Purna Nath.
