In A First, SC To Live Stream Ruling On Political Parties Giving Freebies case to 3-judge bench
Guwahati: In a historic development, the Supreme Court of India (SC) on Friday started airing live its order of political favours.
The day also serves as the departing Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana’s last day of employment. After his term, which lasted one year and four months, has reached superannuation, he will retire.
According to reports, the supreme court’s hearings and decisions in about 20 cases will be live streamed, in a first in the nation.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) webcast portal will broadcast live the proceedings of the ceremonial bench or the Chief Justice’s court.
The significant ruling relates to a petition asking that political parties who give away things prior to elections be deregistered.
