Gauhati HC Rejects Writ Petition on Internet Suspension in Direct Recruitment Exam
Guwahati: The writ suit filed against the internet suspension during the direct recruitment examination has been dismissed by the Gauhati High Court on Friday.
As a result, internet access will continue to be prohibited between August 28 and September 11 for the upcoming direct recruitment exam.
Raju Prakash Sarma filed the writ case on August 24 in an effort to overturn the state’s decision to ban internet use during the test.
The decision to suspend mobile internet during the exam was ordered to be stayed by the Gauhati High Court on Thursday, despite its agreement to hear the writ suit.
Notably, the petition was submitted in response to the state government’s choice to turn off the internet on August 21 for four hours when the Grade IV direct recruitment exam was being administered in 25 districts.
There have been allegations of businesses losing money as a result of the ban, as well as commuters and locals experiencing inconvenience.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered the suspension of internet use during the direct recruitment examinations in order to prevent question paper leaks.
The recently completed Grade IV examination took place in numerous locations throughout the state under intense surveillance.
