Meghalaya: Two Bangladeshi Nationals Held from East Jaintia Hills
Guwahati: Two Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested from near the Indo-Bangladesh border in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya.
This was informed by a senior police officer on Saturday.
Based on specific inputs, a group of Bangladeshi nationals were spotted in the jungle adjoining the unfenced international border near Pyrtakuna village on Friday.
In a joint operation, a police team official and BSF apprehended the duo while the others managed to flee back to Bangladesh.
The duo has been identified as Misba Uddin (31) and Badrul Alom (30). Both of them are residents from Darponagar village in Bangladesh.
“We have arrested two Bangladesh nationals who were actively aiding and abetting the illegal infiltration of Bangladesh nationals to India in the past couple of months through Kuliang-Ratacherra axis,” Dhanoa told PTI.
Misba Uddin is sought after in numerous more situations. According to Dhanoa, an investigation is ongoing and a case has been filed.
Bangladesh and Meghalaya share a 443 km long international boundary, 20% of which is unfenced due to the topography.
