Guwahati: As many as 10 people were injured in a road accident on Sivasagar district of Assam on Tuesday.
The incident occurred near the Gamon bridge over the Dikhow river of the district.
According to reports, several people were injured as the night bus turned over on the side of the road.
The bus that was involved in the accident had registration numbers AS 01 MC 0917.
It may be mentioned that the bus was heading towards Tinsukia from Guwahati.
The onlooker stated, “I came here after hearing about the event. When the incident took place this morning, the bus was travelling from Guwahati to Tinsukia. The injured have been sent to a nearby hospital.
A police officer who was on the scene at the time stated, “According to information we received, the bus was coming from Guwahati. A local alerted us of the situation, and we immediately came.”
“The event has injured between eight and ten persons. The majority of the wounds are minor, so they are not a huge worry. They are getting treated right now,” he continued.
When questioned about the bus’s co-pilot and driver, the police officer responded, “When we came, there was nobody here. They most likely fled after causing the accident and are now on the run.”
It should be mentioned that a number of bystanders and passengers asserted that the driver was intoxicated when the accident occurred, which may have contributed to the cause.
