Manish Sisodia: “CBI Found Nothing In My Bank Locker, Got Clean Chit”

Guwahati: Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said that the he has got a clean chit and that “truth has won” after he claimed that the sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not find anything in his bank locker in Ghaziabad, just like they did not find anything at his residence.

The probe agency conducted search operations today at Sisodia’s Punjab National Bank locker, where according to him the CBI found nothing suspicious.

Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, claimed on Tuesday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths had not discovered anything in his Ghaziabad bank locker or at his home, and that he has a clean bill of health and that “truth has prevailed.”

At Sisodia’s locker at the Punjab National Bank, where search operations were performed today, he claims the CBI found nothing unusual.

“Nothing was found in my bank locker today just like nothing was found at my residence during the CBI raid. I am happy that I have got a clean chit and my belief in God and truth has won today,” he told reporters.

He also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that all investigations into allegations of wrongdoing against him were fruitless and that he had been cleared.

“The CBI officials treated me and my family well, and we also cooperated with them. I know they are also stressed from above to anyhow find something against me and keep me in jail for 2-3 months,” he added.

Sisodia was accompanied by his wife to the bank on the day of the CBI raid at his residence, the officers took the bank locker key with them to carry out the further probe into the alleged scam in the recently withdrawn excise policy of the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Earlier, several raids were conducted at 21 places in Delhi and the National Capital Region including the residence of Sisodia and the premises of four public servants, according to a CBI official. The official said that raids were conducted in locations across 7 states.

Sisodia had then tweeted: “We are honest, building a future for lakhs of children. Unfortunate that in this country, whoever does good work is hassled just like this, that is why our country is still not Number 1.”

The investigation was conducted in light of a report that the Chief Secretary had sent to Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, urging the CBI to look into the situation.

The LG office said that Sisodia gave financial favours to licensees of alcoholic beverages long after the bids had been chosen, resulting in significant losses to the exchequer.

In 2021, the Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, approved the excise policy. According to the Delhi government, the policy was created to promote maximum revenue generation, end the sale of counterfeit or duty-exempt alcohol in Delhi, and enhance user experience.
