NCM Urged Assam Govt to Accelerate Minority Development
Guwahati: The Assam government has been requested to expedite the rollout of programmes designed to develop minority communities in the state.
This was stated by a member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) on Wednesday.
The NCM member asserts that the establishment of the minority financing company and the minority development commission at the state level have been prioritised in order to guarantee that benefits are received by all qualified individuals as soon as possible.
NCM member Syed Shahezadi said, “I held numerous meetings during the visit, including with authorities, spiritual leaders, and the state minority development board,” while speaking at a press conference in Guwahati at the conclusion of a three-day trip to the region.
The work being done for the welfare of minorities in the state is satisfactory, but more needs to be done quickly, Shahezadi remarked in a meeting with the chief minister yesterday.
She added that such organisations are necessary to make sure that the benefits of government programmes reach the greatest number of intended beneficiaries despite the fact that the state minority finance corporation has not existed for ten years and the minority development commission has not been established for quite some time.
The NCM member stated, “The chief minister has replied favourably and we will be receiving a thorough report on all issues identified during our discussion with him.”
Shahezadi emphasised the need for greater awareness of the programmes for minorities and the importance of the media and spiritual leaders in this regard.
She added a WhatsApp group of religious and other institution-run by minority populations is being developed so that awareness of the welfare programmes may be done through them.
