Guwahati: Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika visited the Peace Wellness Foundation on Thursday in Guwahati, a rehabilitation centre closes to the Gauhati Commerce College.
There are not enough of them to serve drug abuse patients although there are more rehabilitation centres in the city.
The Peace Wellness Foundation is one of these facilities that lacks the resources necessary to treat people who are addicted. The minister was taken aback when he unexpectedly visited the rehab facility and saw it in such a state.
Only 4 rooms are available for the 60 drug addicts at the rehab facility. The minister also chastised Silajit Chakraborty, the head of Peace Wellness Foundation, for maintaining the people in such a disorderly manner.
The minister announced that he will meet with the managers of Guwahati’s rehabilitation facilities on Saturday.
