District Level Task Force Formed by Cachar Police for War Against Drugs
Guwahati: In an effort to rid the area of drugs and step up operations against those engaged in the illegal drug trade, the Cachar police raided the home of Javed Ahmed in Kachudaram and seized brown sugar from his possession.
Cachar SP Numal Mahatta informed the media that the person was found with 8 packets of brown sugar. “The 110 gramme of brown sugar in the packets had an estimated market worth of Rs 10 lakh. We have established a centralised task force at the district level with ten members that will continue the fight against drugs and other immoral acts throughout the area, including along the international and interstate border with Bangladesh. Cattle smuggling has resulted in the arrest of three people in the area”said the SP.
“Also, Cachar Police is keeping a close eye on the Jihadi elements as well. Following the directions of honourable Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma sir, we will work towards making Cachar free from drugs,” he further added.
