Assam: Active NSCN-IM Cadre Nabbed in Sonari

Guwahati: Assam Police arrested an active member of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) from Sonari in Charaideo district of Assam on Friday.

The apprehended member has been identified as Tainai Wangnao.

According to reports, Tainai was apprehended from Namtola at the Assam-Nagaland border.

Reportedly, Tainai is a member of the ceasefire group of Naga militants.

The accussed said, “I was arrested at Namtola. I’m a part of the cease-fire movement. Nothing was taken from my possession by the security staff.”

It should be mentioned that as many as eight NSCN (IM)/KTU active cadres turned themselves in to the Assam Rifles and the Assam Police on August 19. Eight cadres were turned in, five from the army wing and three from the civil wing.
