Assam CM Forms Council To Monitor Preparations For Guwahati Tie for Ind Vs SA T20

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma formed a committee on Friday to oversee the preparations for the T-20 international game between South Africa and India, which will take place in Guwahati on October 2.

A special meeting was conducted in this respect and was presided over by CM Sarma at the state secretariat in Dispur.

The meeting was attended by the secretary of Assam Cricket Association (ACA), Devajit Saikia, the Metropolitan District Administration, Assam Police and Commissioner Secretary of the Public Works Department.

Additionally, the match was planned to be conducted in the middle of the city’s Durga Puja celebrations, thus the chief minister instructed the newly formed committee to manage the situation with the utmost seriousness.

It was also decided during the meeting that internet ticket sales for the game would start the second week of September.

A total of 32,000 tickets will be up for sale out the total seating capacity of 39,500 at the Barsapara situated international cricket stadium.

It should be mentioned that Guwahati’s Barsapara stadium was previously chosen as one of the locations to hold a T20 international match as part of South Africa’s tour of India.

The Indian cricket squad will face Australia and South Africa before the T20 World Cup, which will start on October 16 The locations for the three-match home series against Australia have been chosen, and Guwahati will once more have the chance to host a T20 international game in the series against South Africa.

Guwahati was chosen to host the second of three Twenty20 matches on October 2 in addition to Thiruvananthapuram and Indore.
