PM Modi To Unveil ‘Kartavya Path’ Today
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the “Kartavya Path” at India Gate in New Delhi at 7 pm on Thursday.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) claims that it represents a transition from the formerly powerful Rajpath to the public-owned and -empowered Kartavya Path.
The PMO statement read, “These steps are in line with Prime Minister’s second Panch Pran for New India in Amrit Kaal: remove any trace of the colonial mindset.
Rajpath and the districts around Centra Vista Avenue have experienced increased demand from visitor traffic over the years, placing unnecessary strain on their infrastructure.
The PMO stated that there are not enough parking spaces or essential services like drinking water, street furniture, or public restrooms. Additionally, there is shoddy parking, bad signage, and poorly maintained water features.
“Also, a need was felt to organise the Republic Day parade and other National events in a less disruptive manner with minimal restrictions on public movement. The redevelopment has been done bearing these concerns in mind while also ensuring the integrity and continuity of architectural character,” the statement added.
Beautiful landscaping, lawns with walkways, more green space, renovated canals, new amenity blocks, better signage, and vending kiosks will all be present on the Kartavya Path.
Furthermore, in addition to other amenities, the public will have access to new pedestrian underpasses, better parking spaces, new exhibition panels, and improved night lighting.
It will also have a number of sustainability features, such as water conservation, energy-efficient lighting systems, rainwater harvesting, used water recycling, solid waste management, and stormwater management.
