Guwahati: Fake GMCH Doctor Who Forged ID Card, Arrested
Guwahati: A fake doctor practicing at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has been arrested by Guwahati Police on Thursday.
Authorities said that the person who was arrested had altered a GMCH identity card with his information so that he could work as a doctor there.
Reports state that he even used a phoney ID card and official documents using the name Dr. Pranabjyoti Das to assume a fraudulent persona.
The cunning doctor was apprehended by GMCH hospital staff and he was subsequently turned him over to the police.
His position at the institute was listed as an assistant professor on the fake identification credentials.
According to reports, he was caught in the act while caring to some patients in a hospital unit.
The fake ID card stated that it was issued in 2015 and that the person belonged to the neurosurgery department, according to hospital officials.
Additionally, none of the top GMCH issuing officials had their official signature on the ID card, they continued.
The apprehended suspect had previously disclosed that he worked at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), according to the authorities.
A relative of the patient approached him and smelled alcohol on him, when the accused was attending to a patient, raising suspicions. He eventually filed a complaint with the authorities, which is how the issue came to light.
