Guwahati: Tensions prevailed in Imphal district of Manipur after a strong improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered near a local BJP office on Thursday.
According to reports, the Manipur police bomb disposal team eventually safely defused the IED.
The suspected IED, weighing around 4kgs, was planted in front of the BJP’s ward committee office at ward no 16 in Singjamei assembly constituency of Manipur.
The entire area was sealed off after the incident and no vehicles were allowed to enter or leave in order to protect the public.
According to Manipur police, the person(s) who planted the explosives are still unknown.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the matter has been launched.
