Veteran Actor & Former Union Minister Krishnam Raju No More

Guwahati: Veteran Telugu actor and former union minister Krishnam Raju passed away at the age of 83 on Sunday morning in Hyderabad.

He was undergoing treatment at a private facility in Hyderabad for health issues. In a few days, the politician-turned-actor was supposed to be released from the hospital. However, his health did not get any better.

Notably, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former prime minister of India, appointed Krishnam Raju as the nation’s first actor to hold the position of Union Minister.

Krishnam Raju, also known as Rebel Star, had a successful career in both politics and the film industry. He last appeared as the spiritual guru in Radhe Syam, a pan-Indian movie starring Prabhas.

He started his career in Telugu movies in 1966 after serving as a journalist for a short while. He first appeared as a villain, but he quickly began playing the main protagonist.

Meanwhile, the Southern film industry expressed its sorrow at the actor and politician’s passing.
