Guwahati: A prisoner escaped from Biswanath Chariali district jail of Assam on Tuesday.
The prisoner has been identified as Bhaskar Jyoti Nath, a resident of Tezpur.
The defendant received a 20-year prison sentence for the purported murder.
Reportedly, he was also found guilty in two other kidnapping and dacoity instances.
The prisoner escaped from police custody While being taken from the Tezpur Sessions Court to the Biswanath jail.
The prisoner had previously been kept at the Tezpur Prison.
However, following accusations that the prisoner had caused a disturbance on the jail grounds, authorities relocated him to the Biswanath district prison in June.
