APDCL Informs Assam Assembly: Profits Over Rs 33 Crores Made This Year

Guwahati: The power department made profits this year after years of losses, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) informed on Friday.

The power department presented information to the Assam Assembly during its autumn session.

They claimed that Assam consumes almost 2,400 megawatts of electricity each day.

APDCL stated that Assam produces only about 350 megawatts of the nation’s total energy needs, with the remaining 2,000 megawatts coming from other states.

They claimed that from 2016 to 2019, the state used to pay Rs 4.05 per unit to procure electricity. The cost per unit has since increased to Rs 5.13.

Moreover, APDCL disclosed to the Assembly that the electricity department lost Rs 3,398.04 crores in comparison to Rs 29,242.19 crores in 2020.

However, the power department was profitable this year. This year, APDCL made profits of Rs 33,635.19 crores, the department informed the assembly.
