Person With Disabilities to receive Rs 500 from Manipur Govt as Monthly Allowance
Guwahati: In honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi turning 72, the Manipur government will begin giving Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) a monthly allowance of Rs 500 with a 60 to 80 percent disability percentage commencing next month.
N Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, made this announcement on Saturday.
For people with a disability of at least 80%, the “Chief Minister Sotharabasingi Tengbang” scheme, which was introduced in December 2017, already pays Rs 1,500 per month.
According to Biren Singh, “From next month onwards, PWDs having a disability of 60-80% would be provided with a Rs 500 monthly stipend following thorough medical verification and identification by Social Welfare,” in keeping with the Prime Minister’s aim of helping the poor and disadvantaged.
During the event, PwDs who qualify for the AIDP programme received a variety of aids and assistive devices, including tricycles, wheelchairs, teaching and learning materials, etc.

It brings me great pleasure to open the Saksham Seva Kendra, Ningombam Village Road, Free Distribution Camp for aids and assistive equipment.
Numerous state ministers also attended the inaugural ceremony. As part of the festivities, the dignitaries, led by the chief minister, planted tree saplings.
