Assam: 690 Grams Heroin Seized, 1 Held By Police In Karimganj
Guwahati: In its crackdown on the drugs menace in the state, Assam Police arrested one person and 690 grams heroin was seized from his possession in Karimganj district on Sunday.
Acting on a tip off, sleuths from Karimganj Police launched an operation at Kabariband village under Patharkandi police station.
During the operation, Police officials recovered 49 soap cases containing 690 grams of heroin from a residence owned by Jamil Uddin.
However, the accused Jamil Uddin fled from the spot.
Partha Pratim Das, Additional Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district said that the drugs were kept concealed inside an LPG cylinder.
The narcotics that were seized are estimated to have a market worth of about Rs 5 crore.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway into the incident.
