UP Sports Officer Suspended After Kabaddi Players Served Food Kept In Toilet
Guwahati: The regional sports officer has been suspended by the Uttar Pradesh Sports Directorate on Tuesday following the viral success of a video showing female kabaddi players receiving food inside the restroom.
A group of female kabaddi players (U-17) were shown in the video being fed inside a restroom in the Saharanpur area. They were using containers and large open plates that were kept on the bathroom floor to serve themselves.
Regional sports officer Animesh Saxena was suspended as a result of the incident’s widespread online anger.
Numerous opposition party officials have decried the episode and blamed UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP for the unsanitary incident.
Meanwhile, UP’s Sports Directorate has said, “The Chief Secretary (has urged) for harsh action against the regional sports officer stated that “it is because regional authorities and stakeholders’ poor operations contributed to this occurrence.”
“In Saharanpur, there was a state-level competition that attracted some unfavourable press. The situation will be investigated carefully as it was a significant tournament in which many kids took part and there have been reports of erroneous arrangements,” the directorate added.
