Guwahati: Lokmanthan 2022 is all set to begin from Wednesday at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati with planned opening rituals.
The biennial colloquium Lokmanthan will be held in Guwahati for the third time. Assam Tourism Development Corporation and the Intellectual Forum of the North East organised it.
The purpose of the event this year is to give ethnic communities in the Northeast a platform to present their cultures.
Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar, Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would all be present for the ceremony at Kalakshetra today.Various seminars under different themes have been planned to take place during this edition of the Lokmanthan. These seminars will be attended by intellectuals, artists, writers and researchers from all over the country.
In that regard, the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra wears a beautiful look with the mega colloquium set to kick-off from today.
Addressing the media earlier, the organizers said that the event will be held from September 21 to September 24. The aim is to keep the folk culture of the North East alive, they said.
The press meet was hosted by Suranjan Dutta, Joint Secretary of Lokmanthan 2022.
Artists, writers and researchers from around the country will attend the event. Programs under the event will begin from 4pm in the evening on September 21, they had informed.
