Cong Party Prez Elections on Oct 17
Guwahati: Congress General Secretary Madhusudan Mistry on Thursday released an official notification outlining the election’s timetable.
The aforementioned elections for the party’s new president are scheduled to take place on October 17 at all PCC, with the results being made public on October 19 just after the results have been tallied.
“I, the undersigned Madhusudan Mistry, Chairman, CEA, under the power vested in me by the provision of Article XVIII of Constitution of Indian National Congress hereby announced that the Election of the President of Indian National Congress will be held as per the schedule appended below,” the notification announcing schedule read.
Nominations for the position of president must be submitted between September 24 and September 30, according to a notice issued by Mistry.
The complete list of candidates will be made public on October 8 at 5:00 pm.
Mistry has urged the Congress party’s delegates to choose the president of the Indian National Congress in accordance with the guidelines established by Article 18.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor have so far indicated that they are willing to run for the party’s top office.
But ahead of the party’s organisational elections, party leader Digvijay Singh, who arrived in Delhi today, is scheduled to meet with interim party boss Sonia Gandhi.
