Exotic Animals Rescued in Mizoram, 4 Held
Guwahati: At least four people have been arrested in connection with the Mizoram Police’s rescue of several “exotic” creatures, including gibbons, in the village of Saiphai in the Kolasib district.
According to reports, a police team conducted a search operation after receiving a tip and they were able to rescue the animals close to the Assam–Mizoram border.
Reportedly, four persons have been arrested for allegedly being involved in the transportation of wild animals.
All of the creatures, which also include six gibbons, three young monkeys, and ten different reptiles, were saved while being carried to Assam.
The arrested people are from the districts of Cachar and Karimganj in Assam.
