Guwahati: The largest BJP office in the northeastern area will be inaugurated by the party’s senior brass, including national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, according to officials, on Sunday.
The ceremony will take place on October 8.
The state’s administrative centre will be located in this office in Guwahati the capital of Assam. The BJP office is anticipated to include cutting-edge infrastructure and all of today’s comforts.
The structure will have six levels and an open rooftop area covering 95,000 square feet.
Along with state-of-the-art conference rooms with a capacity for 40 people apiece, the new BJP office in Assam will have an auditorium that can hold 350 people. Additionally, there will be five meeting rooms with a capacity of 50 persons each. Along with a reception area and a canteen, the office will also feature a sizable press conference room.
Amit Shah, the previous party president, laid the cornerstone for this BJP office in Assam in February 2019.
A state office bearer in charge of the arrangements told national media, “We’re looking forward to top leaders coming to Guwahati for the inaugural of this office and It is a matter of enormous satisfaction and pride for us to witness how this office has taken shape.”
Another Assam state office holder said, “Assam is the gateway to the north-east and it is the state of Assam which truly open the fortunes for our party in this region hence this is only right that we have a big office here.”
Prior to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had placed a particular emphasis on the advancement of the north-east region through a number of initiatives, including the PM making more than 50 personal visits to the region.
The BJP first came to power in Assam in 2016, breaking the record term held by the Congress party. It also became the only party in the state besides the Congress to have two consecutive terms in office.
The BJP initially took power in Manipur in 2017 and then did so again in 2022.
The creation of the government in Tripura in 2018 ended the Left’s reign of a few decades, marking another first for the BJP in the area. The BJP is still in charge in Arunachal Pradesh, as well as in coalition administrations in Nagaland and Meghalaya.
